Backpacks in Tibia are like Hypercubes. They bend spacetime so in reality you put all backpacks in same place but because it's hypercube we see it as we put every backpack in other position

because the programmers had a dream about a backpack, so they created a backpack that has 20 pockets and one pocket will fit a backpack, so in one backpack fit 20 backpacks

It happens cause all backpacks in tibia are made not only of leather, but of animal's grease too. Thats why they are so elastic and can keep lots of other backpacks. But tibians are planning to change it , somehow, maybe using "eco-bags" made of leaves and wood, cause the population of elephants and mammoths being killed by hunters and sold on black market to become backpacks are increasing a lot last months...
Thats the dark side of Tibia that Cipsoft dont tell you

Backpacks in Tibia were created based in women bags, specially in the bags of the women of CipSoft staff (Chayenne, Mirade, Rejana). Before programmers released the backpacks in game, they took a look at the girls' bags and they decided that, if a woman can put inside their bags in RL: lipsticks, mirror, wallet, car keys, cell phone, appointment book, nail file, etc
They should implement backpacks in game that you can insert more backpacks into the empty one to avoid problems with women players.

Tibia's Bags and Backpacks operate on the principle that every container is its own miniature black hole that allows for unlimited storage, but is only able to contain a small amount of mass due to its small size.

The person who created the concept of backpack was obviously female. So no wonder we can shrink 20 backpacks inside a single empty backpack, it's like every woman's dream I guess (to fit everything possible in a single container defying all physics laws).

is possible because everything that is throw into the depot, backpacks and the trash is transported to another dimension where all the dead summoned monsters, organize all the things and send back to our dimension. That dimension was built by the gods of Tibia and the programmers.
