Old Trails Lead to New Discoveries! (IX)
Day VIII...
Location: Kha'zeel Risk: medium Creature/Enemy activity: high Notes: I found an unknown cave in the mountains. A path led me deeper into Kha'zeel. Above me, I could hear the electrical crackling of energy elementals. I have to admit that it sounds more creepy down there than it usually does on the surface...
At the end of the path, I climbed down a hole and found an old and abandoned ruin. Even if most of the place is decayed and the corridors and walls have already collapsed, I can still see that this was once a magnificent and impressive building... Nowadays, a stinking death awaits you. Poison fills the air and crawling creatures will be after your blood if you dare to enter...

Day VII...
Location: Northeast of Ankrahmun Risk: medium Creature/Enemy activity: medium Notes: The climate has changed, but the dangers and threats are still the same...
Northeast of the pyramid city Ankrahmun, very close to the ocean, I found an entrance, hidden under the shadow of a palm tree. It took me some time to shovel it clear of sand, and I really can tell you that this kind of work makes you sweat like a pig; not to mention the heat and the sun which is roasting your head...
Anyway, back to my observations. Down there, I found a strange cult. Hidden in the subterranean darkness, lizards and humans are doing odd things... Unfortunately, I could not find out, which or whom they are worshiping... yet...

Day VI...
Location: Tiquanda Risk: high Creature/Enemy activity: medium Notes: While I was wandering through the jungle, I met a man with the name Tarun who asked me for help:
"My brother is missing. I fear, he went to this evil palace north of here. A place of great beauty, certainly filled with riches and luxuries but in truth it is a threshold to hell. Demonesses are after his blood. He is my brother, and I am deeply ashamed to admit, but I don't dare to go there. Perhaps your heart is more courageous than mine. Would you go to see this place and search for my brother?"
What kind of adventurer would I be if I denied my help to such a request? So I searched for that place and found it. It was, as Tarun said, a great and beautiful palace. Anyway, all I could find was an imprisoned dwarf who also told me that this damned palace is ruled by demons:
"...the so called asuri. They are demonic creatures who usually hide their faces and appear in the form of a beautiful woman. In truth, they are ugly and ill-favoured. And this palace is as foul as the asuri are."
That was the cue. Hell was unleashed. I was incredibly lucky to escape... Time to leave this cursed jungle. I will continue my exploration in the desert, east of here...

Day V...
Location: Tiquanda Risk: low Creature/Enemy activity: low Notes: Following up a rumour I have heard in Port Hope's tavern, I shouldered my machete and set out again junglewards. Clyde's guests told me about a group of huntsmen, led by a man called Arthom. Unfortunately, nobody could tell me what those hunters are actually doing in the jungle. My curiosity was sparked.
Anyway, I was not able to find the place they have described to me. Instead of a hunter camp, I found a small settlement of dworcs, celebrating their strange fetish... Of course, they tried to capture me but they failed... thanks to my sword... Nevertheless, I really wonder where I can find those hunters or when...

Day IV...
Location: Tiquanda Risk: high Creature/Enemy activity: high Notes: How could I overlook that massive, huge tower? I combed the jungle a thousand times and have never noticed that building. It looks very ancient but also threatening. To enter the tower I had to pass a subterranean passage where a lot of stony creatures tried to stop me.
The tower itself is like a giant circular staircase with many floors. On every level, death is waiting for you if you are not focused enough. The higher I climbed, the harder I had to fight for my life. At least, I made a big haul. Although, I am not sure if I have the chance to sell my loot...

Day III...
Location: North of Port Hope Risk: low Creature/Enemy activity: medium Notes: That was a surprise. I was exploring the area north of Port Hope once again, when I sighted an iceberg at the shore. I have no clue from where it was washed up.
Chakoyas are inhabiting this frosty island. Unfortunately, I did not explore the isle further because my equipment was not really fit for such a climate change. I really had not expected to find an iceberg amidst the tropics. I will come back here but then well-prepared. Although, according to the citizens of Port Hope, the iceberg is not always there...
