Happy 25th Anniversary Tibia!
Lilly on 14 January 2022 12:00:47 · 0 Comments · 232 Reads
anniversary imageUnbelievable! Tibia now exists for a quarter of a century. Some of you have been on this journey with us for many years. We have grown together. We have shared happy times, times of discussions and arguments, and sad times, too, however, now, it is foremost time to celebrate and to be nostalgic together - but also time to embrace the new. Contrasting, just as Tibia has been since the year one. Sounds like music to your ears? To ours, too!

Join us in the celebration of Tibia's 25th anniversary! We have prepared several events for you, some that will start right away, as well as others, that will take place soon. The celebration of this milestone should not end within the blink of an eye, but rather leave a long lasting impression.
A special event we would like to draw your attention to, a highlight of the celebrations, is the planned Pantibian Festival! Collect Theons - special tokens - in order to become part of a group of players who will soon be able to play alongside the four founders of CipSoft, the Gods of Tibia: Steve, Stephan, Guido and Durin. You can find all details about this event, as well as a list of all other planned events and festivities in our featured article. Take a look, and join the fun!

Also, we hope you enjoy this tour through our headquarters that we have prepared for you. Spoiler Alert: You are in for a surprise! And you will see the Gods play the very first version of Tibia. This insight might help you prepare for your own possible playing session with the Gods if you do well in the Pantibian Festival. So - sit back, click on play, and watch (there are subtitles available for English, Portuguese, Spanish, German and Polish).

The main reason Tibia is still alive and kicking today, after 25 years, is you. Tibia has an amazing community. You, the Tibians, have made this possible. You do not get tired to let us know when we are on a wrong path, and you share your joy with us, too, when you are having fun. Tibia has the luck to be home of many dedicated and passonate gamers who have made the Tibian lands really their own. One player once commented the Tibia map with this question: Why do I know this map better than my country's map? - Well, because Tibia is your home, too. You live in the land of dragons and rotworms, the land that is also home of one of the most evil magicians with a very valuable hat. Behold! Let us not forget about the bonelords. The Tibian universe exists because YOU make it come to life.
Once again we want to express our gratefulness. Thank you for being with us on this emotional ride. 25 years ago, nobody would have expected that a quarter of a century later, we would all still be here. You are awesome!

Tibia's 25th anniversary is once again an opportunity for us to honour guilds that have existed for a long time. The guild leaders of guilds that have existed for 5 years or longer, will receive 25 special tapestries embroidered with the guild's age and the guild's name. In addition, the 3 oldest guilds on each game world will receive a goblet with a special inscription. A bronze goblet for the third oldest guild, a silver goblet for the second oldest guild, and a golden goblet for the oldest. Of course, we suggest you display these decorative items in your guildhalls!

Last but not least, we would like to invite you to participate in our anniversary raffle! For a chance to win one of 25 packages of 250 non transferable Tibia Coins, simply head on over to our poll section and answer the question Will you be joining the anniversary events? The poll, and thus the raffle, will end at Jan 14, 2022.

We hope that you will enjoy the 25 anniversary celebrations that we have prepared for you!

Thank you, Tibians!

New Mounts

New mounts have been added to the Store today!

The origins of the Emerald Raven, Mystic Raven, and Radiant Raven are shrouded in darkness, as no written record nor tale told by even the most knowing storytellers mentions but a trace of them. Superstition surrounds them, as some see these gigantic birds as an echo of a long forgotten past, while others believe them to herald hitherto unknown events. What is clear is that they are highly intelligent beings which make great companions if they deem somebody worthy.

Once bought, your character can use the mount ingame anytime, no matter if you are a free account or a Premium account.

Winterlight Solstice

obrazekCan you feel the frozen wind coming from the sea? Do you feel the coldness spreading across the land?

Those sudden weather shifts are foretokens of the percht queen's awakening! Her frozen kingdom is a stronghold of neverending winter! Shielded by perchts and schiachs, she holds sway over the snow-clad island with an iron fist.

It is said that no gear or cloth can withstand the withering cold that comes from her halls. Even the most daring warriors who sought to breach her throne room iced over on their way and were shattered into a thousand bits by her ruthless thralls.

As of server save on December 22, a boat, which ferries over to the frozen realm, will be at anchor near Svargrond's harbour. Once you have set foot on the island, you should talk to Frosty. The friendly snowman will tell you more about the icy place and its shaggy inhabitants.

At the end of the event (server save on January 10) all game worlds will receive a whole week of increased respawn rates (x2) while mana & health points regenerate twice as fast.

Conquer the percht queen's frozen realm!

Status Tibia Observer
Lilly on 14 December 2021 23:49:44 · 0 Comments · 273 Reads
Dear Tibians,

we want to give you an update on the Tibia Observer, a notification app that will support you in your Tibia activities. As we mentioned in our sneak peek back in September, we conducted a closed beta with a handful of selected players who diligently tested the app and provided us with bug reports, valuable feedback and suggestions. In the Auditorium, we also received useful comments from other players which we read with great interest. A big shout out to our industrious closed beta testers and all players who dedicated time to help us with constructive feedback!

We used this helpful feedback to spice up some aspects of the Tibia Observer. We focused on feasible optimisations and improvements which we could develop and implement without delaying the open beta too much. The most noticeable change is the revamped dashboard which now provides useful and interesting info about your favourite chars which you can select via the app.

  • It shows whether those characters are currently online, and also whether they are online training at an exercise dummy.
  • It shows whether you already collected a character's daily reward, similar to the character selection upon login.
  • It shows when the stamina of a character is completely full.
  • You can also see the boosted creature there, and iconic buttons work as short cuts to the different sections of the app.
We also enriched in-app and push notifications when a raid starts by adding more info, e.g. the actual raid message that is sent in the game. In regards to the Char Bazaar, minimum bid and end date of an auction have been added to in-app and push notifications.

The options to set up notifications for the status of a character's offline training pool have been revised so you can better tailor them to your needs. You can choose between four time thresholds for when your training time pool increases or decreases. Moreover, when setting up notifications for offline training, mini world changes, and houses, auto-naming suggestions will help to make this process faster.

Of course, bugfixes and quite a few smaller changes were implemented as well to improve the overall usability and convenience. If you would like to try out the Tibia Observer yourself, you can look forward to the open beta: We aim to launch it in the course of spring 2022. As soon as we have more reliable info, we will let you know.

Last but not least, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for the incredible loyalty and extraordinary dedication, the inspiring passion and generous support you have shown to us and to Tibia, not only this year but for the last 25 years. This unique and special game is dear to all of us and connects us across the world in good times and in challenging times. We are super excited to celebrate Tibia's 25th anniversary with you in January and we hope to see you all there. The anniversary countdown on the Tibia website will show you how many days are left before we get this party started!

Till then, we wish you a peaceful and joyous holiday season! Stay safe, Tibians, and all the best for 2022!

Hail Tibia!

Exaltation Forge: Product Managers' Insight
Lilly on 03 December 2021 01:14:35 · 0 Comments · 261 Reads
Dear Tibians,

we, Tibia's product managers, have intently read your comments and questions about the Exaltation Forge in the last couple of days, with a lot of them revolving around design decisions. Hence we would like to use this opportunity to address some points and explain the goals and motivation for this feature.

Goals

Already in summer, when we began to design this feature for the winter release, it was clear that due to Tibia's 25th anniversary, a considerable amount of resources would not be available, as mentioned here. Regardless, we were looking for a feature which would appeal to and benefit a broad player base across all levels for years to come. We also wanted to curb the considerable gold inflation in Tibia by introducing a new, strong gold sink.

Broad player base and tier 10

The decision to set the maximum tier of class 4 items to 10 has been especially criticised. In our first design draft, there was actually no maximum tier. This was unfeasible though, since e.g. we had to set the tiers in the Market, which would not have worked with an open-ended tier progression. The tier 10 limit thus resulted from practical and technical considerations – knowing that with the current amount of items and gold in the game, this would not be achievable. On most game worlds, tier 5 or 6 is currently the maximum which can be achieved, depending on various factors like character level and playtime. Tier 2 or 3 is already a notable accomplishment, especially considering the amount of resources invested. The feature is however not specifically designed for high levels. A casual player can improve their hunt already with a tier 1 item which provides a small, but relevant gain in power. Dust can be transformed into slivers, if you do not plan on using the forge for the time being, and each killed fiendish monster also gives slivers. Slivers and exalted cores can then be sold to other players, which creates all-around interaction with the system.

Some of you have been playing Tibia for a long while, and can certainly remember a time when opening the level 999 door was an unrealistic goal, an unattainable dream. Tibia has changed in the meanwhile, and many players have walked through said door. In the future, there will be new content, new hunting grounds, and certainly new mechanics. None of us knows yet what those will be. And at some point, we will maybe experience the momentous occasion of the first tier 10 item.

Gold inflation and new items

Every fusion attempt and every transfer removes gold from the game. This is important for a healthy economy, to combat rising prices of regular goods, including Tibia Coins. We are aware that the prices for weapons, armours, and helmets in demand will rise. But these prices are also bound to the actual amount of available gold in the game. With a stronger gold sink (which mainly affects wealthier players) this goal of decreasing inflation can be fulfilled in the long run, which especially players of lower levels have wished for a while. In addition, some bosses are likely to become more attractive again for players who are looking for a specific item to drop.

Concerns regarding potential new items have also been raised, which we want to dispel: Even items that are better than the Soul War items would not receive a new class 5, but would instead also be distributed into the classes according to their availability. If a new item is similarly rare as a current class 4 item, it would then be sorted into class 4, and you can make use of the transfer feature designed for such a case.

We monitor the current usage of the system closely, and we are satisfied with the results. The necessary cost for upgrading items meets our expectations. Some of you can already call themselves the proud owners of a tier 3 item, and some players might have already discovered that using the forge may yield a pleasant surprise at times.

Best regards,
Tusius and Niadus
